Advice On When To Plant Roses
When it comes to the planting and maintaining a flower such as a rose, there are many different things that you need to take into consideration. This is because roses themselves are very different from other types of flowers, and so you need to make sure that you understand certain important facts about roses before you go and plant them.
When To Plant Roses
A good understanding of when to plant roses is of great importance, as planting the roses at the wrong time is going to be incredibly detrimental to their success overall, and thus it is essential that you understand when you should plant them.
When it comes to planting roses, be aware that it largely depends on where you live and thus the climate of the location that you are at; however there are some basics that you can take into consideration. For instance, planting roses depends also on other factors, such as whether you buy bareroot dormant bushes or potted plants that are already growing, and sometimes even in bloom for that matter.
You want to plant dormant bushes early, before trees and shrubs leaf out in the spring or at least by early May. Make sure that you do not plant growing potted roses that were started in a greenhouse, at least not until the danger of severe frost is past, that is, late May or early June.
The way that you plant your roses is really going to determine their survival rate, and what you want to do is dig a hole that is large enough to hold the entire root system or either potted or bareroot plants without crowding and deep enough so that the graft is 1-2 inches below the soil surface.
Then you want to make sure that you place each plant carefully in position, and then put loose friable soil around the roots and firm around the bottoms with your hands. You also need to make sure that they get lots of sunlight and that you water them well, so that they can strive to their full potential.
As long as you take all of this information into consideration and as well do research in your own time, then you should have no problems and you should come out with some really great results.
